B7 Baltic Islands Network was represented at the 12th Kuressaare Maritime Days taking place on 1 - 3 August in Saaremaa. B7 had its own information tent where brochures about the Baltic Sea Islands as well as leaflets about the B7 and bags with the B7 logo were distributed. There were many visitors showing interest towards the B7 islands and the B7 cooperation. Bornholm, Gotland and Rügen had sent their "ambassadors" (WG People to People members) to Kuressaare who together with Saaremaa Chairmanship representatives introduced the B7 Islands to many people.

B7 Tourism Project: Workshop in Tallinn |
|

Winter this year happened on the 26-27 March!
Precisely the two days that tourism people from the B7 islands got togerther to prepare a project application for the new INTERREG Baltic Sea Programme. The weather caused flight cancellations from Hiiumaa and Saaremaa, which hindered those who had not chosen to take the ferry.
The group had a good time putting together the project outline and having a look around the Old Town. This time those that fell over could blame the slippery conditions! |

Could Åland Isles snuff out the Lisbon Treaty? |
|

The BBC website reports that the Åland Isles are playing hardball and may reject the Lisbon Treaty! See Link
Apparently the big problem is "snus". Snus is banned in the EU except Sweden, however the Åland Isles want to sell snus in Swedish waters. You've got to give it to Åland, they know how to hit the headlines! |
