On 4th of September the County Property Reform of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern reduced the number of County Districts and Autonomous Cities. Now there are only 6 County Districts and 2 Autonomous Cities (Rostock, Schwerin). The former County Districts of Rügen and Nordvorpommern as well as the Hanseatic City of Stralsund were merged now to one large County District named "Vorpommern-Rügen". Parallel to the Landtag election also local elections took place. All members with voting-rights  could vote for their new landrat and the members of their new County Councils. This year´s B7 President Uwe Ahlers was reelected to the new County Council "Vorpommern-Rügen" as a member of the Liberal Party. He will further represent the Rügen Island within the B7 Baltic Islands Network.
