On the 7th of June, 2009 the elections for the European parliament, the county council and the municipal councils took place on Rügen island. According to Rügen's voters representatives from CDU - 33.5 %, The LEFT - 25.8 %, FDP  10.1 %, SPD - 9.8 %, GREENS - 4.8 % shall be the decision makers in Strasbourg. The results of the polls to the Rügen county council show a similar picture:

Christian Democratic Union  -  16 seats  (- 3)
The Left  -  11 seats  (± 0)
Free Democratic Party  -  7 seats  (+ 1)
Alliance for Rügen  -  6 seats  (+ 1)
Social Democratic Party  -  5 seats  (± 0)
The Greens  -  2 seats  (+ 1)

B7 Steering Committee member Uwe Ahlers has been re-elected as member of the county council (FDP) and as mayor of the northern Rügen municipality Dranske.
