Snow, snow - and more snow!

Winter_Road.1s
Kjeldsebyvej Bornholm:

For those on Bornholm living outside of Rønne it is another day of being snowed in! It is difficult to clear the new snow as everywhere is full up with previous snow falls.
Luckily we cancelled the meeting of B7 politicians in Stockholm that was meant to take place today 03 February. Flights could not get to Bornholm last night, and the first flights today are either delayed or cancelled. The fast ferry is not sailing to Ystad because of ice forming in the harbours. Those who were hoping for cheaper heating bills this year will be disappointed.

Winni Grosbøll Mayor on Bornholm!

WinniGrosbollSocial Democrats and Liberals have formed a broad coalition with Winni Grosbøll as Mayor.

The coalition is based on the co-operation between Social Democrats lead by Winni Grosbøll and the Liberals lead by Steen Colberg Jensen. Bjarne Kristiansen's Citizens List party have a minor role in the coalition.

No bid from Gotlandsbolaget

The Swedish ferry company Gotlandsbolaget has informed the local Bornholm media that it has refrained from bidding on the ferry service villum_clausen2for Bornholm. Jan-Erik Rosengren, Director for Gotlandsbolaget, advised that there was too little time between the contract award and service start dates to aquire the required ferries.

There are two companies who have informed they will bid, Nordic Ferry Services (NFS) with Bornholmstrafikken and Mols Linien where NFS owns 30% of the shares.

The new tenderer will begin their contract period in September 2011. The winner will be informed in the beginning of 2009.

Pipeline routing south of Bornholm

0809_pipeline_bornholm2

Nord Stream connects the Russian Baltic Sea coast near Vyborg, the Leningrad Region, with the German Baltic Sea coast near Greifswald. (link to Nord Stram website). Nord Stream give the following reasons for the re-routing:

  • Protected natural area
  • Sites of chemical and explosive munitions dump sites
  • Water protection areas
  • Tourism and recreation sites
  • Spawning and fishing areas
  • Intensive shipping area

Change of Municipal Director on Bornholm

Jette Deltorp is leaving the Regional Municipality of Bornholm at the end of March 2008.

Jette has been a great friend of B7 particlularly within youth development and education.

Kenth Halfdan Ferning
takes over as the Municipal Director of Bornholm on 1 February 2008.

His strengths are in business development.

Interpreting some of the newspaper articles, we can say he has a clear idea of where the goal posts are and is not easily dissuaded.
